Black Women HEAL
Mission: Deep Breaths and Heal is a culturally specific nonprofit organization committed to promoting the healing, restoration, and long-term well-being of Black women who have survived sexual assault. We believe that healing is a deeply personal and communal journey that must honor the cultural identities, lived experiences, and historical traumas unique to Black women. Our mission is to provide access to holistic, integrative healing modalities that support the mind, body, and spirit, empowering survivors to reclaim their wholeness and well-being.
Through comprehensive support services and culturally responsive education, we equip Black women with the tools needed to navigate and overcome the lasting effects of trauma. Our organization is led by a team of professionals and leaders who represent the communities we serve, ensuring that our programs remain relevant, compassionate, and attuned to the complex realities faced by Black women.
We are deeply rooted in the belief that true healing must be approached through an inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded framework. Recognizing the interconnectedness of individual trauma and systemic oppression, we work to dismantle barriers to wellness by fostering safe spaces for authentic expression, community connection, and transformative growth.
At Deep Breaths and Heal, we envision a future where every Black woman survivor has the opportunity to experience complete healing, resilience, and empowerment—restoring her sense of self, reclaiming her narrative, and thriving in all areas of life.
Vision: To see all Black Women Survivors be completely healed from all traumas that resulted from sexual assault & other intersecting traumas they have experienced over their life course.
Population to be served: Black Women between the ages of 18 - 70 +. As we continue to develop our services and resources we will expanded to include culturally specific services to diverse Black women of the African Diaspora. Our services are developed by and for Black women. The services we provide consider the historical & cultural experiences of the African American community and its impact on sexual assault victims and survivors. The healing tools provided will be grounded in “non traditional” healing and communications approaches that are void of traditional white main stream practices.
